Top Dreams - Adults vs Teenagers

Our dreams tell us about ourselves and guide us to know how to translate our work in life into success. A carpenter would likely dream of finely carved furniture and the tools of his trade. A fisherman would likely dream of a fine fishing boat and a place in the market where he could sell his fish. A young mother would likely dream of a moment's peace; a time and place in which she can dream her dreams for herself and her young ones. Politicians dream of power, businessmen dream of money, prisoners dream of freedom and young people usually dream of the future.
When you sit and just let your thoughts pour in from all directions, where do they take you? Is there always one thing in your life that you think and dream about; do you sit and imagine what it would be like? What are you looking for in your life? More peace, prosperity, someone to share your life with? I’m quite positive that every person deep down inside really just wants to be happy, to be with their families, have their friends around them, have successful meaningful relationships, be healthy and live the life they are meant to live.

What do you dream about? That question was asked in a survey of 1,014 adults across the United States.

Top dreams of adults

1. In first place was the category “family and home”, with 30.3 percent of those surveyed saying that's what they primarily dreamed about.

2. In second place was "your job"

2. In third place was "money"

4. Sex came in fourth, with 6.7 percent saying that's what they dreamed about. Perhaps not surprisingly, more men (11.1 percent) than women (2.7 percent) said sex was in their dreams.

5. Following sex were "television or movies" and then

6. "food" (only 0.9 percent, leading for the people to conclude those surveyed were well-fed folks).

Recurring dreams reported in the survey included visions of "winning the lottery," "meeting the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models" and "beating up the bad guy," none of which are surprising.

Top dreams of teenagers

And here we come with the survey thought for young people, meaning teenagers – those who only begin their long liferoad and their own opinions about values, dreams, goals and wishes. The results are as following:

1. be happy 44349.17
2. fame 869.54
3. money 636.99
4. lifegoal no_answers 545.99
5. big family 293.22
6. be a success 192.11
7. have it all 151.66
8. spiritual 50.55

10. other 60.67

Conclusion

Our dreams may be beneficial or harmful, but they serve to tell us where we are in life. The challenge, then, is to put dreams into their proper place in life. To live in a dream-like fantasy state would be to cheat ourselves of the present. To deny ourselves the ability to dream would be to lose sight of the stars we are reaching for. We reveal ourselves, not just in what emanates from us, but in the things around us, just like a star in the sky.
